Because sometimes the goal is more important than the journey. Every choice you make in the Monster Prom visual novels affects how the story ends, and Monster Prom: Roadtrip is no different. But getting to any ending this time is harder because you have to reach and keep certain statistics.
Each of the six stats has its own destination at the end of this crazy trip. The hitchhikers you date add another layer, and some of them are tied to specific stats. Random things that happen on the road and how you deal with them can even change how the story ends. Being the most valuable player on the Pranksterz Crew can also do this. All of this can be hard to keep track of, so here is a ranking of each ending based on statistics.
The Cryptid Prom
You can get to the Mind final destination if you avoid situations that make you question your reality and work hard to learn things. And which hitchhiker would make the best date? Moss Mann, of course. Who else from the monster world of urban legends would fit in as well at a prom? Moss Mann’s favorite thing to do is hang out with crazy teens, which is also the best place to find hot gossip.
When you bond with Moss, he can give you tips on how to make the most of your resources, and the narrator even suggests you play the first Monster Prom game! The young monsters you met along the way all made it there safely because of you, and it looks like they’re having the time of their scary lives. All of this makes for a pretty heartwarming ending, and Moss’s last speech about stars and sharing a secret never told is the icing on the cake.
Dreamed Dominions
In a world where your car runs on magic, it shouldn’t be a big surprise that every corner has a pocket dimension full of adventure. To get into one of these strange new lands, you only need 25 Magic, but if you want the best Magic ending, you’ll also need the plot layer and the romantic layer. Pick up Aavari as soon as you find her at the Rest Stop. Talk to her over the next few weeks about Hex, her curse, the food truck, and going on adventures.
She’s the perfect person to bring to a fantasy pocket dimension, since the story is clearly about her and not you. During the vibe check, choose the option where you have the most Resources to help Evil Joy convince her ex-boyfriend Gerard to bring down the evil porcelain Nu. With Calculester as the bard and Joy as the sorceress, the group will go on an adventure that is a lot like a Dungeons and Dragons game. Every ending is a new beginning.
Knifeland
The jokes in Happy Wheels game were made for a place like Knifeland, where the only ways to have fun are to torture, kill, and pull illegal pranks. You might even get a severed head to remember your time with your friends. You’ll need at least 25 Hype to get in, but if you want to make it extra special, you should wait until Week 3 to get to 15 Hype. This sets off a series of special road encounters. Depending on the stat you’re trying to get, the encounters will be different.
Damien, the king of hell, is the hitchhiker of choice here. Make sure to talk to him in depth before you reach 25 Hype, and he’ll let you into all the best places in Knifeland. The best thing about this ending is that the monsters you helped on the side of the road are here, and you even get to see one guy spread his father’s ashes, which is a sad scene for Monster Prom.
The Merkingdom Feast
Politics are a big part of this storyline, and lots of characters from all over the monster-verse have their own ideas, goals, and allegiances. If you talk to Miranda Vanderbilt at the Rest Stop, you’ll learn a lot about how the Merkingdom’s internal conflicts came to be. When an honor guard tries to help each of the Vanderbilts with their own plans, it really adds a lot of depth to what is supposed to be a spicy and funny visual novel.
To get the most out of this story, you’ll need to talk to Miranda three times and have less than 15 Money at the end of Week 2. This will eventually lead to peace talks with the rulers of the circles of hell. After that, you’ll need to save up the rest of your money until you have at least 25 Money. As corny as it sounds, the best part of this multi-layered final destination is the journey to get there and the hard work the developers put into making the world.
Veranotone
A four-day party with Summer, Macarena, and Cheese, the Party People from the afterlife! You’ll need a lot of Stamina for this, and it goes without saying that you’ll also have to help them get a crazy amount of drugs. But if you want the best ending with a romantic twist, you’ll have to get close to a strange hitchhiker. Liam has been around for a long time and has done almost everything he can do as an immortal, but he hasn’t been to Veranotone to party yet.
Not only is the festival a lot of fun, but helping the ghosts decode their drug dealer’s texts and convince him you’re honest is a hilarious plot point. The unexpected lessons we learn from Summer and Macarena are what put this movie so high on this list. They talk about how they died and what they learned from how they lived, which makes this well-written series even better.
The City Of Vice
Last but not least, it’s the best way to end a Monster Prom Roadtrip: by going all out in the City of Vice. When you’re traveling with Polly and Scott, you rarely hold back or think about the moral consequences of your choices. The Soul destination is the perfect way to end the trip. You’ll need 15 Soul after the third week and 25 Soul before the seventh week to open all of the layers of this awesome result. You can get Vera Oberlin, the stuffy mogul gorgon, to let loose once you grab her.
All of the monsters in the plot along the road are very different, and one of them even helps an aardvark convince gamblers to stop for a while. And if you pass the vibe check, they’ll all be at the end of the line to give in to their vices with you—the perfect destination for the perfect road trip.
